This project was required by a Japanese operator company, which had petroleum exploration and production rights in Middle East offshore oil field. This field consists of several reservoirs and we have contracted for the simulation studies of all these reservoirs since 2000.
Through the reservoir simulation studies, detailed characterizations of the reservoir rocks and fluids were developed based on conventional and special core analysis data, well test data and fluid analysis data. And then, the model initialization and history matching were conducted.
As our client company was required to obtain the approval of the national oil company of the oil producing country for the results of their each study, presentations at on-site meeting were included in our business. Such discussion with the national oil company was the most distinctive feature in this project.
A person in charge of the national oil company was a reservoir engineer who became experienced at the huge oil field with more than 100 wells and required to follow the procedure generally applied to the reservoir simulation study for the huge oil field. However, each reservoir in the target field was small having only a few wells and acquired data such as core sample, fluid sample and well test data were quite insufficient to meet their requirement. Therefore, simulation models have been completed by using approximate expressions and literature values.
We are engaged in research and development, and have experiences in simulation study for huge oil field. We flatter ourselves that we could utilize our diverse experiences and meet the requirement of our client in a flexible way for this project.
